The College of Dental Sciences is one of the two premier dental colleges under the umbrella of Bapuji Educational Association. The Honorary Secretary of this association is Shri S. Shivashankarappa,M.L.A. Hon. Secretary the Chairman Bapuji Educational Association, Davangere and the Late. Chairman Shri I. P. Vishwaradhya. The Principal of College of Dental Sciences is Dr. V. V. Subba Reddy who is also the Professor and Head of the Department of Pedodontics and preventive Dentistry. This institution was established in 1991. The B. D. S. degree was recognized by the Dental Council of India in 1996, when the first batch of students graduated from the institution. In the same year, With permission of Govt of India, Post graduate Courses (MDS) were started in 6 specialties. The M.D.S degree of these specialties got recognition by the Dental Council of India in 1999. We are proud to say M.D.S. degrees were the first to be recognized in the state of Karnataka under affiliation of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Oral Medicine and Radiology and Oral Pathology and Microbiology Started from the academic year 2000-2001 further in 2000-2001 institution crossed another mile stone by starting post graduation in Oral Medicine and radiology Oral Pathology and Microbiology s well as Preventive and Community Dentistry with annual intake of 4 seats. M.D.S. course in Preventive and Community Dentistry commenced with annual intake of 3 students . Our institute also conducts Para-Dental courses viz. Dental Mechanics and Dental Hygienists.
