Prosthodontics is the dental specialty pertaining to the diagnosis, treatment planning, rehabilitation and maintenance of the oral function, comfort, appearance and health of patients with clinical conditions associated with missing or deficient teeth and/or maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitute. The Department of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge including Implantology at College Of Dental Sciences, Davangere was established in the year 1991. Post-graduate course was started in the year 1996.
The department deals with various types of treatments including Complete Dentures, Removable Partial Dentures, Fixed Partial Dentures, Implantology, Maxillofacial Prosthodontics & Full mouth rehabilitation. The department is blessed with highly dedicated staff members under the guidance of whom quality treatment is provided to the patients taking into consideration the requirements and needs of individual patients. With the yearly intake of 100 undergraduate students & 6 post-graduate students, the department staff deals with 400 UG Students, 100 House Surgeons & 18 PG students who have been so far trained so well that they have become independent dental surgeons and Prosthodontists & are serving in the various parts of the country and abroad.
The department is also associated with I.D.A Davangere branch in conducting various treatment camps in and around Davangere.
