Oral Pathology & MicroBiology Overview
The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Microbiology College of Dental Sciences was established in the year 1990-91 and is flourishing since its inception. The department is one among the best equipped colleges in the country and also well staffed to provide the very best academic training for under graduates and post graduates, patient service and research support from inception, the department ventured into training post graduates in 2000. Located in one wing in the second floor of the ‘A’ block and covering an expanse of 478.62 sq. feet. The department has dedicated laboratory space for clinical oral pathology, microbiology, haematology & serology, immunohistochemistry and forensic odontology. Additionally dedicated microscopic research room, post graduates study room, undergraduate laboratory, specimen storage room, departmental library, staff & HOD rooms provide adequate space while maintaining all sections within easy reach for effective and efficient work management.

The department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology & Microbiology is dedicated to training dental students, internees and future specialists in oral & maxillofacial pathology, dental anatomy, dental histology, microbiology, forensic dentistry and related fields. The department is involved in teaching 200 undergraduate students in 2 subjects and 12 postgraduate students at all times, while providing support for varying numbers of external PhD students and postgraduate students at various times.
