Periodontics Overview
Periodontics is that branch of dentistry which deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of pathologic conditions of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth and dental implants. The department of Periodontology CODS, Davangere, was established in 1991. It is committed in achieving academic excellence. Providing optimal oral health care and high quality periodontal rare treatment along with oral health promotion and oral disease prevention. All in all, department functions with the motto of “PROMPT AND WHOLESOME PATIENT CARE”. It is involved in a rich amalgamation of scientific enquiry and comprehensive dental care service. It treats on an average 45 – 50 patients daily and has state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure to render good services to patients. It offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate training facilities. Advanced treatment modalities like latest regenerative techniques, aesthetic surgery, Perioplastic surgery, Laser surgery, Microsurgery and implants are available. It meets international protocols of sterilization to safe guard our patients and dentists from cross contamination. It has highly dedicated, enthusiastic and efficient staff members who are especially committed to clinical training, working extensively and intensively with students on one-to-one basis for total patient care and are involved in various research activities.

Periodontics is a branch of Dentistry dealing with the supporting structures of the teeth in health & disease. This is one of the oldest, branch in dentistry & has come a very long way. Analysis of periodontal tissues & elucidation of the mechanism and cause of diseases have extended for beyond and into the relation of cellular & molecular biological understanding.
